Best Local Winery for Tasting
Bent Creek

Picture Holder
It’s a second career for two local couples, Pat and Tom Heineman and Carol and Rich Howell, and so far their endeavors as winemakers have been successful winning them accolades and awards from regional and statewide competitions. The Heinemans purchased the 12-acre property on Greenville Road in 1980 and basked in its country setting. They didn’t plant their first Syrah grapes until 1997 selling the grapes to Concannon Vineyards for the first five years until they all decided to take enology classes at UC Davis and start making their own wine. They established Bent Creek Winery in 2002 working together on every aspect of wine production with the goal of crafting small lots of complex wine primarily from the grapes grown in their vineyard and others in Livermore Valley. About 6,000 vines of Petit Syrah, Zinfandel and Cabernet Franc grapes are planted on eight acres. They annually produce about 3,000 cases of wine.
