Handles Gastropub (Pleasanton)

Inspired by the original public houses, a gathering place for friends to enjoy food and drink, four friends opened Handles Gastropub in the fall of 2011. “Handles” refers to the 30 taps of revolving craft beers they showcase and the 16 taps of artisanal wines, says managing partner Chris Hampton. His brother, Brian, a trained chef from the culinary academy in San Francisco serves up a variety of pub fair that they call “American comfort food with a chef’s twist”. Using the former Pleasanton Hotel location, the pub takes advantage of the outdoor beer garden that can seat up to 100 people and features live music four nights a week. Besides delicious beers, wines and food, the brothers and fellow partners David Ritterbush and Brent Schwager dish up the community involvement and support by giving back to local groups, and partnering with local breweries, vineyards and organic farmers.
